At the beginning of the season our field was grass deficient, compacted and uneven. You may have heard about Ottawa's drought conditions this summer. Now our field is a dust bowl. It's been a little embarrassing to host league games...

It's also disappointing for our inner-city community that the only soccer field in the neighbourhood is in this condition. We live and play in a densely populated part of Ottawa where Little Italy meets Chinatown, and green space (green!) is in high demand.

Winning $125,000 in field upgrades through the BMO TOTW contest would mean a lot to our clubmates and to our community.

The Cachafaz would direct the $5000 donation to the Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa, which provides valuable services to at-risk youth in the community.

Our record this summer is... well, let's just say we figure we're due to win a biggie.

The Cachafaz were named BMO Team of the Week (TOTW) for week 14 of this contest that spotlights youth soccer teams that demonstrate great pride, team spirit, community commitment and passion for the game.

As one of 15 finalists from across Canada, the team is now eligible to win the grand prize: up to $125,000 for a field renovation, a trip to an MLS game, and a donation of $5000 to a charity of the team's choice. All three of these elements are great, but the legacy of a safe, green pitch means the most to us.

Why we want to win the grand prize

You can vote online once a day through the 15-day voting period: August 13-27th. The voting is open to all residents of Canada.
